What file types can I upload?

The CV Analyser accepts the formats most doctors actually have to hand. You can also bypass file upload entirely and paste your CV as plain text.

Supported formats

PDF | `.pdf` | Sent directly to the analysis backend as a document. No conversion needed. |
Word | `.docx`, `.doc` | We extract the text in your browser before sending. Formatting, images, and tables are stripped. |
Plain text | `.txt`, `.rtf` | Read directly. |
Pasted text | — | Type or paste straight into the text area. |

If you upload a file and we successfully read it, you'll see its name appear with a "ready to analyse" tag. If not, you'll see an error message and a prompt to paste the text manually.

What we recommend

- Export from Word as PDF before uploading, if you can. PDF is the most reliable format — what you see is what we analyse.
- Avoid scanned PDFs* A "scanned" PDF is essentially a photograph of a CV and contains no selectable text. The analyser won't be able to read it. If your only copy is scanned, retype or copy-paste the content into the text area.
- Avoid heavily formatted Word documents with embedded tables, text boxes, or graphics for headers. Plain paragraphs and bullet lists work best.

What happens to my CV file?

Your file is sent to our analysis backend so the model can read it, and the resulting JSON verdict is stored against your account so you can come back to it later. We do not share your CV with third parties. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.

Troubleshooting

- "Could not read file" — most often a corrupted or password-protected PDF, or a `.docx` saved in an old or unusual variant. Try exporting again from Word as a fresh PDF.
- My upload "loaded" but the analyser still says my CV is too short This usually means we extracted very little text (often the case with scanned PDFs). Paste the text in instead.
- My file is huge Very long CVs work, but consider trimming anything from outside the last 10–15 years if the page count is unusual. The analyser sees everything you send it, so brevity helps.
